Jackson Land & Cattle (JLC)

Despite having grown up in the Bronx as the son of working-class parents, Richard Fields dreamed the life of a cowboy or farmer since childhood. A long time resident of New York, Richard Fields didn’t learn to ride a horse in 1985, but after achieving substantial success in business, Richard Fields purchased Jackson Land & Cattle, a ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he breeds American Quarter Horses and hosts western roping and cutting competitions.

Jackson Land & Cattle

Jackson Land & Cattle Co occupies over 2,000 acres in the Spring Gulch corridor of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The ranch is operated by the fourth generation of the homesteading family and is a traditional home for western ranching heritage. Working cow horses and events related to cutting and roping were introduced to Jackson Land & Cattle several years ago.

When Richard Fields bought Jackson Land & Cattle, he also purchased Peptobonsmal, the 1995 NCHA Futurity Champion and the 12th leading cutting horse sire. Peptobonsmal’s offspring earn well over $8.75 million. Today, Richard Fields uses Jackson Land & Cattle to support Jackson’s ranching and quarter horse industry as well as promoting similar local groups.
